Art Class: Week 8

Hello everyone !

Unfortunatelly I could not take part in the first lesson of Art Class, but I will try my best to catch up !

On the second class I have found out that the leading theme of the blog is Searching for Happiness. I find it a very attractive topic which gives everyone a wide field for self-expression.

Impressions ....

I really enjoyed my first class of Art ! The theme of the lesson was Puppetry. Firstly, an introduction made me more familiar with the subject. Next, I have learned about many interesting and sometimes shocking ( Human Zoo, the Elaphant Betsy) facts from the history of Belgium and Ghent.

I must admit that the First Zoo in Ghent and the story of the Elephant Betsy is what  inspired me most during this class.

While listening to interesting facts concerning Ghent, we had to do a certain tasks with the use of clay. I liked the activity a lot, because it triggered my creativity. And finally, I have created my own puppet from the paper pulp.

To sum up, my first impression about Art Class was very very  positive. I always associated Art Classes with drawings  and they seemed a bit boring to me, but now I know that during Art Class many interesting and engaging techniques can be used and the activities do not have to be boring. Working with clay was fun for me and as well it was an interesting form of self-expression.

Now, I would like to present something about myslef:

I originally come from a beautiful town in North-East of Poland - Augustów. The town is surrounded by seven lakes, one river  and dense woods. The beginnings of my hometown dateback in 1557,  and according to a legend the town was set up by a Polish King- Sigismund Augustus. While hunting and being lost in dense forest, he tried to find a way home and eventually found a shelter at the friendly inhabitants of the forest.
